Scout Account
Overview:
- 2006/2007 was Pack 66's first official year of managing Scout Accounts.
The program has been a great sucess and has helped Scouts with the expense of Scouting such as
scout summer camp, uniforms, and camping equipment.
- Scout Account dollars are held in the Pack checking account. The Treasurer maintains the Scout Account book to keep track of each Scouts balance.
- Scout dollars can be used for any scouting relating item or event.
- Turn a Reimbursement Form in to the treasurer (Cathy Bieker) with a reciept and you will be reimbursed.
Purpose
- Scout Accounts serve as a primary motivator for Scouts to reach their full potential and "Earn Their Way" in Scouting by selling popcorn to fund an entire program year!
- Scouts are rewarded for sales performance by having 25% additional sales after reaching their Per Scout sales goal deposited in an individual Scout Account.
- Through this Scout Account boys can pay for any and/or all Scouting costs/fees:
Summer camp, activities, uniforms, camping equipment, Scout Shop merchandise, registration/insurance, Boy's Life, etc.
Reimbursement
- When a Scout purchases scouting related merchandise from the Scout Shop, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc, the Scout turns in a scout account reimbursement form and the receipt from his purchase to the Treasurer.
- If a family pays for a Scout activity, the family simply presents the receipt to the treasurer and receives a check for reimbursement.
- The Cubmaster needs to approve purchase from other than the Scout Shop.
- The Treasurer withdrawals the receipt dollar amount from the Scout's individual account and writes a check to reimburse the Scout.
Rules
- If at any time, or at the end of the years popcorn sales, a Scouts Account is below $5.00,
the account will be closed and the Scout's parents given the closing dollar amount.
- If a scout has a balance in their account and owes the yearly registration fee, the fee will be automatically
deducted from the account unless another payment is made by the registration deadline.
The Scout Account stays with the boy until they leave the pack or transfer over to the Boy Scouts.
A Scout has until December 31st of the year he transfers to Boy Scouts to use up any balance in his acount. Any remainder after that gets donated to the Pack.
Questions & Answers
Q. How do I use the money in my scout account?
A. It's a reimbursement account. You complete the scout account reimbursement form found on the Pack 66 website. Provide this form and a copy of the receipt to the Pack Treasurer.
Q. I found a better deal at Dick's Sporting Goods; can I get reimbursed for purchases made there.
A. Yes, as long as the purchase is scout related. For reimbursements other than from the Scout Store the Cubmaster's approval is required on the scout account reimbursement form.
Q. How can I cash out?
A. You cannot cash out of the Scout Account program. If a Scout leaves the pack prior to boy scouts, the Scout account money
is turned over the Pack. If you are leaving the Pack you can use the account prior to leaving to purchase
items your Scout will need in the future (camping equipment, uniforms, kits at the scout store).
